Gateway Market / South Union Bakery is looking for an experienced manager to oversee it’s production baking and wholesale operations.
This person will oversee a staff 35 artisan bakers, prep cooks, pastry cooks, production supervisors and route drivers. The manager will be responsible for all aspects 7 day a week, 24 hour a day bakery operation, including cost of sales, labor cost, variable scheduling to match variable production, management of production levels, purchasing of food product and disposables, hiring and employee discipline, cleanliness, equipment management, and training.
Additionally the manager will be responsible for maintaining customer relationships with 80+ wholesale customers and seeking out and developing new business. The bakery manager oversees all of the logistics associated with daily bread delivery as well as coordinating delivery logistics for our rapidly growing catering operation.
The bakery manager will work directly with Chef Partner George Formaro on new product development and quality control. The right candidate will have 3-5 years of high volume food service management, with a background in baking. Strong communication skills, verbal and written, computer proficiency, Microsoft excel, basic mathematics, and the ability to work calmly in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment are all necessary skills. |
